What to Expect
Instructors
Each instructor has an idea of who is coming to class. They try to plan a class based on who signs up. They will greet you with open arms and include you as part of the family. Always feel free to alert them if there is anything that is pressing with your medical condition.
Space
Our space is of hard wood floor. We have mats available
for extra cushion and knee pads if needed.
Temperature
Just like most spaces in New England some spots of the room are warmer than others. People usually spread out to the areas that agree with them the most.
Room Layout
Your practice space is a first come first serve basis. Setup wherever you want. No one person owns a spot, and you are free to change spots as often as you like.
What to Wear and Bring

Comfortable clothes – not too loose that they bunch up when you are moving in different poses.

A yoga mat if you have one, otherwise we always have some at the studio. There are also pads for the knees if needed as well as blocks, blankets, and bolster.

Water

Wear layers for different temperatures you may experience while in class.

How to care for your mat:
Choosing a mat
Mats are sold everywhere. We happen to love Liforme as it is eco friendly and they last a long time. Plus they are pretty and have good cushion. It is an investment, so if you prefer, TJmaxx has some really affordable mats $8-$12 to start off and make sure you want to have a long term practice and are ready to commit. Most studios have mats you can borrow too, so keep that in mind!
Washing
You can never go wrong with some good hot soapy water to your mat every now and then. Vinegar is also good to put on there to keep bacteria from growing. There are also a lot of sprays out there. Just be careful that they don’t make your mat sloppier.
Storing
Store your mat rolled up free from pets, as they can start to decay and fall apart and get scratched. Treat is as a sacred space of energy where you commit to your wellbeing.
How to set up at Home
Space
Find a room or space in your home that is free of anything harmful and allows you to spreadout and have some peace.
Music
Feel free to to play music as you practice from Zoom or one of our recordings in the On Demand library
Viewing
Most people view classes from a phone, tablet or TV. We want you to see and hear us well, so feel free to use a device that makes sense.
Instruction
We do our best to watch you while the class is going, but always modify or do your best to follow and don’t feel like you need to do everything exactly. We are always up to feedback after classes on how to make your experience better.
Step by Step guide to Safety

It can feel hard to trust the body when you probably began yoga due to an injury or pain in the first place. Honor the stage you are at when you begin.

Always listen to your body and get your doctors permission to begin.

We go step by step. Uncomfortableness is something you may feel, as change requires this, BUT if you feel pain in anything please stop or change up how you are doing it.

Please tell the instructor ahead of time, if there is anything pressing that they need to be aware of. We have a good eye seeing the way your body moves, but it is always good to have open communication.

If you are feeling sick or ill, have a deep cough, or runny nose, please try to stay home, for the sake of the other practitioners. A consistent practice will help build your immune system.

We may touch at the end of class, so if this is something that is triggering to you, please notify the instructor, however we usually ask beforehand anyway.
When Not to Practice
- If you have just had surgery.
- If you feel sick.
- If you have not gotten permission from your doctor.
- If you are not good with large groups of people. We try to make people feel as comfortable as possible at all times, however if it is painful to be around other people due to a nervous system trigger, please consider staying home that day so we don’t exasperbate the anxiety.
